Ville de Lyon Clematis

Plays Well with Climbing Roses
The flowers on this clematis make it one of the most beautiful pink-red clematis blooms you can grow. Unlike many in this reddish palette, these blooms stay bright for a long time before fading. The color is really unique, it reminds us of the sort of hue you'd find in a renaissance tapestry. The habit is also impressive. It's fast-growing, free-flowering, vigorous and a great "come-again plant." If you cut it down when it stops producing flowers, it'll grow fresh, or come again, extraordinarily well. As it's fast, large, and doesn't damage what it climbs on, this is a great vine for growing up perennial shrubs and trees. We also find it enchanting growing alongside climbing roses.
