Seriously Fragrant Peony Collection
Decades of Easy, Fragrant Springs
These three varieties—Duchess de Nemours, Eden's Perfume and Madame Debatene, are some of the most fragrant on the market. Peonies are very low maintenance—once established, they do not like to be disturbed, divided, mulched... Left to do their thing, they can last decades in the right sunny, well-drained spot. They're ideal for hedging, as the foliage stays gorgeous from spring to fall. The late spring to early summer blooms are large, fluffy and picturesque. They're great for cut flowers, so you can have a fresh bouquet on hand that'll perfume a whole room. They do take a few seasons to start flowering in full, but the years and years of fragrant beauty will be worth the wait. Deer tend not to eat peonies.
