Raspberry Munger

Produces large, plump, shiny black delicious sweet berries. Firm berries are excellent for processing and freezing. Very stout canes tend to upright growth, if staked making it easier to harvest. Self-fertile. Munger has become the leading commercial variety and is well adapted to home gardens. Developed in the Midwest. Harvest in early summer annually. Mature at 6 ft. Zones 4-8.

  • Planting Instructions: Set at the same level they are growing at in the container. Firm well and water in thoroughly
  • Soil Requirements: Tolerant of a wide range of soil types, will do best in a well drained humus enriched soil
  • Growth Rate: Fast once established, which takes approximately 3 - 5 weeks
  • Pruning: In late winter rmove any canes damaged by winter weather. Longest canes may also be trimmed, at this time, by about 6" to help them remain self-supporting.
  • Winter Care: A winter mulch of straw around the crown is advantageous in colder climates
  • Additional Information: Do not plant red, gold or purple raspberries withint 75-100 feet of black raspberries. Black raspberries may be more suscepitble to viral diseases carried by aphids to and from newly planted raspberry plants.
