    Clematis 'Piilu'

  • Height: 8 - 10 feet

  • Light Requirements: Full Sun, Partial Shade
  • Color: pink
  • Foliage Type: Medium green simple palmate to pinnate leaves arranged alternately and opposite on the stems.
  • Bloom Time: Early to mid summer and again in late summer to early fall
  • Flower Form: First bloom on old wood is 3-4" double light pink blossoms with dark purplish red bar. Successively blooms are on new wood but single blooms.
  • Planting Instructions: Prefers a situation where tops are in the sun and roots are shaded either by low plants or a mulch to keep soil moist and cool.
  • Soil Requirements: Rich, well drained soil with a ph close to neutral.
  • Growth Rate: Slow to establish, fast there-after.
  • Pruning: Light pruning in early spring or after flowering. Early spring pruning will sacrifice blooms but may be necessary.
  • Winter Care: Winter mulch around the base of each plant.
