Northern Maidenhair Fern Northern Maidenhair Fern

Northern Maidenhair Fern

Versatile shade lover
Named for its resemblance to the braids of a long-ago maiden, this lovely fern has a soft, ethereal look that delights wherever it is planted. It adds color, texture and interest to shade-covered sites around the landscape, such as wooded areas, shadowy borders, in waterside plantings and as ground cover beneath dense tree lines. Though it grows only 1-2 feet tall, Maidenhair Fern creates a wonderful display that won't be missed by garden visitors. It is easy to grow, preferring moist conditions but will tolerate average soils, too. It is best planted in groups wherever you need a bit of color or style. The foliage remains green from spring to frost.
