Milky Way Dogwood

Especially Vigorous Kousa Dogwood
This variety of dogwood blooms later than native ones, with larger flower bracts and even more vigorous flower power than other kousa dogwoods. These beautiful creamy white blooms will instantly draw attention and set the summer mood right off the bat in your June landscape. They are followed by yummy odd little red-orange fruits. They're creamy and sweet, with sort of a tropical flavor, and they make a nice jam. Then in fall, the leaves will take over the spotlight, bursting into shades of scarlet, orange and blazing red. Lovely exfoliating bark provides winter interest, so really you'll have something to look at all through the year. Grows best in well-drained, humus-rich soil, and appreciates extra water in hot and dry conditions.
