A goji shrub makes an easy accent. It grows 8-10' tall with elegant vine-like branches and emerald-green leaves. Pretty, pale, early summer flowers are followed by orange-red fruits. It'll continue fruiting and flowering until heavy frosts. The plant has no known disease or pest problems, and once established it's drought tolerant. You've probably seen goji berries as a common ingredient in the health food aisle. They are high in antioxidants, and many believe they are beneficial for the immune and circulation system. Health benefits or no, they are so tasty, with a flavor that falls between a cranberry and a cherry! They're best when dried, and they can be used a lot like raisins—try them in your granola and yogurt. For a sweet tooth, add them to your chocolate bark, or for a savory sensation, try them in a rice dish.
