Giant Himalayan Lily

In RHS's Top 200 of 200 Years!
Be the first on your block with an 8' lily! The unbelievable giant Himalayan Lily matures to 7-9' tall, and in ideal conditions, may even outgrow that. This one-of-a-kind feature is an understory plant. Unlike most lilies, it actually prefers shade, so you can put it by an overhang or tree line for extraordinary interest and a tropical tone. In cold zones, we suggest growing it in a pot you can roll into a garage for winter. The blooms are large, long-lasting and beautiful. They're also fragrant, but you may need a ladder to stop and smell these flowers. They'll also attract high-flying pollinators. After flowering the flowering stem will die away much like a lily or tulip and leave the bulb crown and bulb offsets to produce flowers for years to come. These offsets can be divided and planted where they will build up energy (this sometimes takes 4-5 years) for their own towering blooms.
