Feather Hyacinth

An Heirloom Grown by Thomas Jefferson
Bring vibrant color to your garden with the fragrant Feather Hyacinth! Its flowers are made of feathery, airy filaments that form violet-blue plumes in a cloud above the upright stems. Its foliage is green and grassy, sprouting near the soil instead of along the stem. Its original cultivators date back to colonial times and include Thomas Jefferson! He and others achieved the best results with this perennial when planting it in well-drained clay, loamy, or sandy soil. Deer will keep away, so plant in border gardens, rock gardens, along woodland borders, or to naturalize your garden. At only 12" tall, they also make delightful cut flowers for bouquets or vases.
