Introduced by the University of Minnesota in 2009, this Northern Highbush variety was specially bred to offer up loads of delightfully sweet berries in colder climates. Upright growth habit makes Superior an excellent edible hedge. Superior flowers later than most other blueberries, protecting it from late frosts and making it a reliable late-season producer. Berries are lower in acidity than many of its peers with a balanced flavor and delicate sweetness—wonderful in baked goods or cooked into sauces. Rich shades of red and maroon cover the 3-5 ft. plant in autumn, making it an ideal ornamental. Self pollinating. Zones 3-7. Ripens in mid-season (In Southwestern Michigan beginning approximately July 15th, earlier in warmer zones)
