August Moon Hosta

Bright and Beautiful
This award-winning hosta starts with a nice chartreuse tone for lightening up a shade garden. However, if planted in full sun--which it tolerates better than most hostas--that color will intensify to a gorgeous golden hue. You can show it off alongside all those sunny ornamental grasses and play it against a bright floral palette--it's fun to experiment with hosta in a new part of the garden. The leaves are large, reaching around 9" long and 8" wide. They're sweetly heart-shaped for some rounder edges against the hard lines of a rock garden. What's really handy about this foliage, other than its tolerance of full sun, is that it's thick and corrugated, which slugs are much more likely to leave alone than thin, tender leafed hostas. In midsummer, lavender flowers on tall scapes will attract butterflies and other pollinators.
