Flower Form: Individual, flared trumpet-shaped flowers form dense pyramidal panicles ranging from 5" - 8" in size.
Planting Instructions: Plant firmly, set the buds 1" - 2" below soil level. If potted, set at same level it is in the container. Firm soil and water thoroughly.
Soil Requirements: Well drained. Many phlox tend to be susceptible to mildew, so plant in a sunny, airy location with good air circulation.
Growth Rate: Moderate to fast.
Pruning: Remove spent flower heads to encourage reblooming. Trim back to 2"-4" if mildew is a problem. After flowering
Winter Care: None special, except to mulch the first winter if fall planted. Remove early in the spring before growth starts.

When does Orange Perfection Phlox bloom?

Orange Perfection Phlox is a tall phlox, which means it will bloom in the middle of summer, through the end of the season. Bloom time is one notable difference between tall and sprawling phlox-while crawling phlox blooms early in the season, the tall varieties bloom much later.

Does tall Orange Perfection Phlox need to be divided?

Most tall phlox, including Orange Perfection, will need to be divided every few years. We recommend dividing this phlox every three to five seasons, or whenever the stems begin to look cramped. You can divide tall phlox in springtime, and it's a fairly simple process. Simply dig up the "clump" of the phlox in early spring, and divide it using a spade or sharp knife. Re-set the phlox, spreading out the clumps as you did the first time you planted it.

Is Orange Perfection Phlox Mildew Resistant?

This is a mildew-resistant phlox. If your garden tends to experience a lot of dampness, make sure to provide plenty of air flow between your plants, and water them early in the day instead of at evening.

Is Orange Perfection Phlox container-friendly?

Orange Perfection Phlox can be grown in a container with adequate drainage and enough size for the roots to spread out-we recommend a pot at least 16 or 20 inches wide for these tall phlox plants. Keep in mind that potted phlox should not be left outdoors over winter, as containers do not offer the same insulation as the ground. Bring your phlox into an insulated garage or shed over winter.
