Foliage Type: Deciduous leaves that emerge bright cherry red in the spring, mature to burgundy red in the summer, and finally turn crimson red in the fall

Planting Instructions: Plant at the same soil level as it is in its pot. Avoid planting in windy areas if possible.
Soil Requirements: Moist, organically rich, slightly acidic, well-drained soil
Growth Rate: Slow
Pruning: Minimal pruning needed. If necessary, prune while the tree is dormant and before sap begins to run through the tree in the spring.
Winter Care: Water the tree well before the ground freezes. Lay about 3" of mulch down around the base of the tree to protect the root system. If cold winds are a problem, wrap the sapling in some type of insulation for the winter (like burlap) and tie it up. Use a stake to keep everything in place as necessary.

Our experts predict weather patterns as best they can to set suitable shipping windows for each growing zone. However, as any gardener knows, nature is not so predictable. Bareroot perennials, trees and shrubs are kept in the nursery row until fully dormant. This promotes optimum transit conditions and provides your new plant with the best opportunity for success in your garden.

Trees and other oversize items cannot be shipped to PO boxes.
