Smells Divine and Hardy Review by Nicole Roderick - Queens, NY
Posted on 2013-07-01 14:58:38

Planted this last season and it took off growing like a rocket! However,it was attacked by aphids causing major damage and fast.I cut it down to the ground, mourned and left it.This Spring, not expecting it to have lived, since the stalks were hollowed and brown after cutting in last summer,I dug it up and the roots were still abundant and looked better than expected.I replaced it's soil with Planting Mix and replanted.Well it's flourishing, smells lovely and is a stop off for butterflies on their way to my Black Butterfly Bush.I treated it with organic insecticidal soap early on and haven't seen one aphid.

This plant was given to me and was small the first year but it sure pulled in the butterflies and hummingbirds. I had Monarchs and Viceroys the second year lay eggs with resultant catepillars. Wonderful plant!

A butterfly favorite Review by Lisa Rizzo - New Castle, PA

This plant was slow growing at first, then grew to a full tall beauty. Make sure you do not plant anything else too close to it. Did extremely well in this unusually hot summer heat.

I ordered 2 of these items. I was very happy with the root system that was delivered. I have planted them and both plants emerged within 2 weeks. I am looking forward to seeing this plant as it grows.

Want a garden that's eco-friendly and supports butterflies? Want to enjoy a delicate and fragrant addition to your landscape? Consider the Sweet Vanilla Butterfly Flower as your newest inclusion. This butterfly garden plant is a perennial and a favorite of butterflies. It also attracts birds, including hummingbirds. Butterfly flower plants do well in moist soil but can tolerate drier conditions. It is happiest as a border for sunny ponds, though this is definitely not a requirement. To truly provide an environment that is butterfly-friendly, consider adding a bucket with sand and adding some water so that the top is damp, then placing a twig in the sand to provide a perch near our butterfly flowers. Butterflies are near-sighted so you should plant your butterfly garden plants in groups, in full sun. In early to mid-summer, the butterfly garden plant produces large rose-pink flowers that bloom in clusters and brings with them a long-lasting, sweet, vanilla scent that is absolutely irresistible to butterflies, and is sure to draw comments from all who visit your garden. The Sweet Vanilla Butterfly Flower is excellent for large landscaping projects, is deer-resistant, and makes beautiful and fragrant cut flowers. It is a native American species and grows 3 to 5 feet high. It is an upright plant and the flowers top long stems with rich, green leaves.
