The Sedum Carpet, as its name suggests, spreads across blank garden beds to add eye-catching texture and patterns. This mix brings together six varieties of sedum—a type of succulent also known as "stonecrops" that is a native of the Northern Hemisphere—that bloom in colors ranging from light green, to lavender, to maroon. Each variety boasts a different shape as well, with some that look just like traditional flowers and others that bloom into bumpy-looking cones.

Because it is made of succulents, sedum ground cover requires no fertilizer. It's not picky about where you plant it, either; in fact, Sedum Carpet thrives in zones four through nine and asks only to be planted in spots exposed to partial or full sunlight. Other than that, this plant is considered a fully hardy perennial, which means it lives for several years without being damaged or destroyed by harsh winter weather.

Aside from being easy to grow, the Sedum Carpet is extremely resilient. It can survive droughts and other extreme weather conditions. And, unlike many other varieties of flower that are equally as eye-catching, the Sedum Carpet is extremely deer resistant.

The Sedum Carpet is best suited for planting in pots, which can be placed in outdoor areas both large and small. Although it spreads outward, this plant is relatively compact in size: the tallest it will ever grow is six inches in height. Most sedum ground cover begins to bloom in early to late summer, but don't expect it to disappear with warmer weather: because it is an evergreen, the Sedum Carpet sticks around all year long.
