Took off like a weed, with no "pampering" at all. The ONLY reason I didn't give it a 5 is because it isn't red yet, but will be on maturity. Easy plant.

Eragrostis Spectabilis, also known as Purple Love Grass or Purple Lovegrass, is a gorgeous ornamental grass. Tiny pink seed heads form a soft, fluffy cotton-candy cloud over tangled green foliage. Fall colors blaze in a beautiful bronzy-red. This American native grass is a warm season bunch grass that can be found in the sandy soils of Florida, Texas, Arizona and Mexico. A perfect ornamental for poor, sandy soil, it makes an excellent ground cover in infertile soils, providing some erosion control. The perennial Eragrostis Grass loves full sun and is highly drought tolerant. With a soft and subtle texture, this grass makes excellent space filler in desert plantings, rock gardens, poor soil spots and borders. The grass grows to about 10" tall, but its spreading nature requires about 18" of space around it. A slow-grower, it spreads by rhizomes and self-seeds.

Plant purple love grass in early spring in well-drained soil. Propagate by dividing clumps in early spring, or by sowing seed. Eragrostis Spectabilis needs very little care and makes a great roadside planting for this reason. It is hardy in Zones 5-9, and will overwinter nicely. Cut it back in early spring before new growth appears for best results. A soft haze of subtle pink during spring and summer, this grass really achieves its glory in the fall with its beautiful copper and bronze tones.
