Unique Characteristics: This 'American Series' Orienpet lily is a cross between a Trumpet lily and an Oriental lily resulting in extraordinary flower size and substance. A common characteristic of the American Series lilies is that rather than producing many daughter bulbs, these lilies put all their energy into developing large mother bulbs resulting in their large impressive stature. The bulbs are slow to split apart. Unlike most dutch bred lilies that are selected for their cut flower or out-of-season forcing ability, these are bred in field conditions with unpredictable weather conditions and have turned out excellent.
Pruning: Cut back stems by 1/3.
Additional Information: Division VIII lilies. Cross of Trumpet lilies and Oriental lilies.

Just wait Review by Marcia - Fairfax, VA

I planted two years ago and the first year only 3 bulbs came up and I thought that I had just wasted my money. This year all the bulbs came up. They grew up to 5 ft tall and each one had the most wounderful flowers. If this is your first year just wait. I'm looking forward to next year.

If you happen to be looking for a flower on the taller side for your garden, arrangements, or borders, consider the Lily Tree Mix. With large flowers in a variety of resplendent colors, the Orienpet Lily plants will bring a lovely dash of color to your garden. Should you choose this particular breed, take note that these lilies do best in areas that receive partial to full sunlight, and should be planted in well-drained humus-enriched soil. The lily flower bulbs should be planted no less than six inches below the soil surface and be spaced 12 to 15 inches apart from other bulbs. These lilies can grow 6 to 8 feet in height, with an average spread of 8 to 12 inches. The growth rate of the Orienpet Lily is quick, so expect to see dark green stems with lance-shaped leaves whorled up the stems and two-toned flowers in mid-summer. Flower colors can be red, orange, pink, white, and golden yellow while the flowers themselves are out-facing pendants, with thick, waxy petals, that measure approximately 8 inches across. Whether you choose to plant them in your garden or along a border, the Orienpet Lily are an eye-pleasing addition to any area they're placed.
