Soil Requirements: Well drained, humus enriched soil.
Growth Rate: Moderate once established.
Unique Characteristics: Own-root rose exhibits phenomenal flower power and super hardy plants from a rose plug. Roses grown on their own roots are naturally hardier than grafted roses. In cold climates, new shoots that emerge in spring are true to type, not undesirable suckers below the bud union. These roses exhibit fuller more symmetrical rose plants with more fragrant, beautiful flowers. Floribunda types were introduced at the World's Fair in 1939 and have been going strong ever since. Delicious color combination of bright ketchup red with the reverse in mustard yellow. This color combination stays strong to the end, just in time to welcome more flower buds for the next round of WOW color!
Pruning: Prune to maintain shape and increase branching once established. Remove any dead or damaged branches.
Additional Information: Roses prefer a thorough watering but do not like 'wet feet'. Water early in the day to avoid wet conditions into the night which can cause issues with fungus and disease.

When I received this rose it was small but very healthy. I wasn't sure if I would get any flowers on it, but to my surprise it bloomed its heart out this year. I love this rose, it is just beautiful. Everyone that walks by our house comments on it!

Love the color - Hardy as well Review by Heidi - Underwood, MN

I love the color of this rose... it is very hardy as well. When I first got it, I planted in a wash basin... then the black labs tail wiped it out a couple times... so I put a cage around it. Then I had issues with the drain holes on the wash basin and I was drowning this poor little plant. So I transplanted in another pot and moved it indoors and now this is blooming beautifully!

Flourishing!! Review by Chelsea - Caneyville, KY
Posted on 2013-06-07 11:54:35

This was my first purchase with Michigan Bulb Company and I couldn't be more pleased! When my ketchup and mustard roses arrived they were small (but I was prepared for that) but extremely healthy. Once I was able to get them in the ground after our unusually late winter here in Kentucky this season, I babied them and was just happy if they rooted this year. However, I am thrilled to say that these two have flourished!! They seem to relish the heat. They now have doubled in size and I have four blooms coming in and it's only the first season!! I'm amazed!! I will purchase from this company again!

Absolutely Beautiful! Review by Alicia - Green Cove Springs, FL
Posted on 2013-04-02 12:15:58

I purchased 2 of these a couple of years ago. These roses are stunning! Everyone I know now wants these roses! They handle the florida heat, are hardy and bloom aplenty. Most flowers/roses I buy don't make it with the dryness and heat here in florida, but these have it licked. I am very impressed with these, my favorite of all i've bought! I will be buying more.

So tiny but bloomed a month after planting! Review by MMT - Little Rock, AR

I planted this rose in April of this year but was worried as it was so small. It started growing right away and has a tiny bud on it already. Very happy with it!

Bright and flamboyant, the Ketchup and Mustard Rose is colorful enough to make anyone stop and take a second look. This red and yellow rose will be an integral part of a landscape, garden, or even as part of a floral arrangement in a container or vase. The Ketchup and Mustard Rose grows on a deciduous shrub with bright apple green, glossy foliage. The garden rose plant's flower possesses a formal appearance with intricate spiral blooms. Exactly as the name conveys, the flower is blessed with a deep rich red color complimented with dark yellow backsides. The exquisite color combination stays bright and vibrant until the end of the flowers growth cycle ensuring long-lasting visual pleasure. The Ketchup and Mustard Rose grows to be 2 to 4 feet in height, enjoying full flowering during the late spring to late summer months. Optimal growing conditions for the garden rose plant are full sun exposure that will promote quicker flowering and higher quality plants. Well-drained, humus-enriched soil provide the garden rose plant the right nutrition for its moderate growth rate. The Ketchup and Mustard Rose requires thorough watering early in the day as opposed to night watering because oversaturation causes fungus growth and disease. Your garden rose plant will remain healthy and beautiful with regular pruning that enhances branching and maintains the plant's shape. The Ketchup and Mustard Rose is a unique red and yellow rose bursting with splendor lasting until the new buds begin to take shape.
