An extremely hardy evergreen rhododendron that is a cross between Rhododendron impeditum and Rhododendron dauricum. R. impeditum is known for compact dwarf evergreen rhododendrons that exhibits good hardiness and the R. dauricum is deciduous to semi-evergreen rhododendrons that are know for very prolific blooming. The result of this cross is a dwarf rhododendron that has a dense mass of dark evergreen leaves and a multitude of violet purple blooms each spring that covers the petite branches.
Not well suited to plantings under thick tree canopies. Needs good even moisture levels through out the hot summer months.
