An absolute giant! To call this recent hosta introduction "impressive" would be a serious understatement. Growing up to 4' tall and 6' wide, Empress Wu is simply the largest hosta available today! Huge, dark green, deeply-veined leaves of good substance can measure more than 1 1/2' wide and long. Strong upright habit, forming a very tight clump. Pale reddish-violet flowers in midsummer.

Bought 2 of these last year and they are doing very well. Hopefully they will grow faster now that they are established.

Planted last spring....they grew about 6 inches..one of them had been stepped on so much by clumsy friends I thought it was completely dead...amazingly all 4 came back this year and seem to be doing good. Hopefully with this early spring they will take off this year...will update later.
