This particular variety produces more open rosettes than other varieties and can offer different color variations each year. The succulent rosette plant's 'chicks' begin life a deep crimson, opening to show silvery gray-green leaves tipped in scarlet red.

Bicolor Red Hens and Chicks grows best in full sun to light shade. It is deer, pest, and disease resistant. Hardy in zones 3 – 11, this rugged sedum is temperature and drought tolerant. It is easy to grow, even in poor soil conditions, making it a great plant choice for filling in edges, bordering paths and enhancing rock gardens. Bicolor red hens and chicks produces pink to reddish-pink blooms midsummer on 12" tall stems.
