There's no need for shade to be boring!
Shady spots in your yard can be tricky. But you have options...And at Michigan Bulb we give you plenty of them. Here you'll find brightly colored flowers for shade, unique fern and hosta varieties in rarely seen colors and so much more!
Just because shade plants thrive where the sun doesn't shine, doesn't mean that they can't bring color into your garden. Shade plants, in a unique spectrum of colors and textures, can add interest to spots that are out of the spotlight. Check out our How-To Library and shade perennial planting guide for planting tips!
We carry a wide variety of flowering shade perennials, from bright coral bells to dainty toad lilies. You can create a shade flower bed using shade-loving blooms. Try placing taller shade flowers, like astilbe or bleeding hearts, behind short primroses and toad lilies. Looking for foliage? The hosta represents all that a shade plant can be. Originally from the Orient, this plant is known for its eye-catching foliage. White accents etch the plant's green leaves, a stunning display especially considering that some varieties of the hosta plant grow to about 4 feet tall. These famous leaves-which emerge with differing patterns and glossy or matte looks-provide a natural backdrop for the plant's tubular flowers. They typically bloom in shades of white, blue, purple, and red.
