Decorative garden grasses such as zebra grass boast showy, yellow touches that glow in the sunlight. Decorative grasses for landscaping can be quite spectacular; take, for example, cotton candy grass bursting with blue-purple plumes at summer's end. Pink or white pampas provides long, silky blooms, and should be planted while keeping its wide spread in mind. Hot rod red switch grass, golden hakone grass and corner grass garden also make for excellent additions that cascade and enchant along pathways, patios, rock gardens and woodland landscapes.

Grasses should be planted in spring, although they may also be planted in fall. Well-drained soil is key, as well as frequent watering during the first growing season -- this allows root systems to take hold properly. Landscaping with grasses can be fun and easy, with visual rewards reaped for years to come.
