An evergreen shrub, dwarf red hardy azaleas are known botanically as rhododendron x "hirode-giri" -- or "mist of the morning sun" -- and feature vivid rose crimson color every spring bloom. They grow at a small to moderate pace and can reach two to three feet in height with a spread of two to three feet. Try our popular azalea varieties: Mary Poppins hardy, golden lights hardy and and ribbon candy hardy have remained popular due to their beauty and resistance to disease. Golden lights hardy present bright yellow oceans of color, great for rock gardens and borders.
